Every time a hit artist makes their way to perform at the valley, it turns into chaos and excitement at the Bert Ogden Arena in Edinburg, Texas. Pulse Magazine had the opportunity to attend a much-awaited concert this Wednesday, April 13, 2023. Raùl Alejandro Ocasio Ruiz, known professionally as “Rauw Alejandro” is a Puerto Rican singer and songwriter. He, alongside other artists such as Bad Bunny, belongs to the modern classification of “musica urbana” and is currently one of the biggest Reggaeton artists right now according to All Music. Rauw’s musical journey began in 2016 when he released music on SoundCloud, a mixtape called “Punto de Equilibrio” that quickly became a hit that served to jumpstart his career Currently, he has recorded four albums, Afrodisiaco released in 2020, Vice-Versa released in 2021; Trap Cake Vol.2 released in 2022; and Saturno released in 2023. For those four albums, he has been nominated for several awards, including American Music Awards, Billboard Music Awards, Grammy Awards, iHeartRadio Music Awards, and more. He has also collaborated on some single hits with big names in the music industry, such as Bad Bunny, Selena Gomez, Shakira, Rosalia, and many more. His music has created a large scene in dancing events, international clubs, and outings where people have fun and bond. His music combines deep house, reggaeton, pop, R&B, and urban into a mix of spicy, Spanish danceable songs.

According to the Bert Ogden Arena Director of Marketing, Griselda Morales, they were expecting the concert to gather around 7,000 attendees, guaranteeing the arena’s energy to feel jumpy and fun. You could feel people’s excitement as he continued singing the following songs because the arena felt like it was shaking somehow. Rauw’s production was out of this world, as we imagine he intended for it to look since the whole theme of this tour was futuristic, space, and many shades of blue. It makes sense with the tour name “Saturno,” which means Saturn. The production was full of blue lighting, star wars like lightsaber laser lights that would move according to the hand gestures of his backup dancers that were in full robot costumes. He added some pyrotechnics that would spike in correlation to his jumping dance movements. What added a unique touch to his show was when he asked people from the floor to join him on stage, and you could see him introducing himself, and hugging the chosen fans in a genuine way, which not many artists do. What seemed like an hour of the night turned out to be 2 hours and a half long. It did not feel eternal whatsoever because the night felt like a party, and you could tell people were enjoying themselves.

At the concert, Pulse Magazine was able to interview some fans. We interviewed a happy-looking couple and asked the following. Pulse asked attendee Diego Gomez what his favorite Rauw Alejandro song was, he answered, “My favorite song is “Tiroteo” because it reminds me of a special someone in my life, and I feel light-hearted everytime it comes out, it’s a catchy tune”. The interview proceeded with a deep question because we all know music can have a meaningful effect in people’s lives. Pulse asked him how Rauw Alejandro’s music has changed his life, he answered “I bought these tickets months ago, and my relationship ended within the time frame of the concert date getting closer, so in a way I was coerced into showing up to the concert with my ex girlfriend, which happened to be one of the best decisions, his music showed me what commitment entails, and made me commit to learning his songs 100% to enjoy the time with my girlfriend, and commit to her longterm for the future”. It’s surprising for someone to open up that deeply to a question but that is how you know musical artists make impact in people’s life through the art of music, and entertainment. Overall, his concert was everything you would have expected from one of the most exhilarating artists of Latin modern music.
