Brownsville vs Kings
People from across the city of Brownsville took to the streets Saturday evening during the ‘No King’ protests—a national protest movement against U.S. President Donald Trump.
The protest took place at Morrison Plaza, a popular shopping center in Brownsville that features restaurants and local businesses. The protest began at 5 p.m. and continued until the scheduled conclusion at 7 p.m.

While the protest remained peaceful, officers from Brownsville Police Department did patrol the area. They maintained a small presence at the gathering to ensure public safety.

Brownsville resident Joe Medrano took part in Saturday’s demonstration to protest what he called the authoritarian tendencies of the Trump administration and the failure to seat Arizona’s newly elected House Representative Adelita Grijalva.

Jorge Victor Cavazos, another Brownsville resident, veteran and co-founder of Team Brownsville—a local organization that provides humanitarian assistance to asylum seekers—attended the demonstration to voice his opposition to the Trump Administration and what he called the “inaction of Democratic political leaders.”
“We’ve turned in letters to Vicente Gonzalez, I let him know we have been very discontent with his performance and that he has not been listening to his constituents,” Cavazos said. “I also let him know that I will be running against him for US House Congressional District 34.”
