The University of Texas Rio Grande Valley football team played their first ever spring game on Thursday at the Veterans Memorial Stadium in Brownsville. The white team came out victorious defeating the orange team 17-5. Freshman Quaterback, Atzel Chavez Jr., threw for 110 yards and completed 9 of 15 passes. Chavez said it feels “surreal” to be a part of the first ever UTRGV Football team’s history and gave thanks to “the man above.” The next UTRGV football game will be on Aug. 3o in Edinburg where the Vaqueros will take on Sul Ross State University.
