The University of Texas at Rio Grande Valley Vaqueros kicked off their season with another shut out on Saturday against the University of Texas Permian Basin Falcons.
The Vaqueros delivered a final score of (44-0), following their record-breaking first season which ended with an overall win/loss record of (9-3).

The first touchdown of the night was scored by wide receiver Kyran Lee from a reception caught by quarterback Aidan Jakobsohn.
Head Coach Travis Bush said they are going to continue to build this year’s team and figure out what the team’s identity will be moving forward.
“That’s the beauty of what we do when you see [new players] come in, freshmen develop, and now in their third year they are exceptional players,” Bush said. “The beauty of this game and what we do, you can still develop these guys.”
He added the team played very well and they continue to hold the standard set from last season.

Wide receiver Kyran Lee said his confidence and “manifestation” helped him with his performance tonight. He said it is something he recently started doing before the season.
Quarterback Aidan Jackobsohn said the fans are a great support system and it is great to see his “buddies” in the stands supporting the team.

There were 13,498 fans in attendance, which UTRGV prepared for by expanding the seating throughout the break between last season and now.
Arianna Acuña, UTRGV finance freshman, said it was her first time at a Vaquero game and enjoyed the experience of meeting new people and going to the pregame tailgate.
“I’d say I [will] keep showing up, especially with my best friends,” Acuna said.
The next game for the Vaqueros will be against the University of Texas San Antonio Roadrunners at 2:30 p.m. at the Alamodome in San Antonio, Texas.
