Since it is too late to register to vote, it is up to registered voters to fulfill their civic duty and vote for their local representatives.
On March 3, residents will be voting for the United States Senator, representative, governor, lieutenant governor, attorney general, commissioners, judges, justices, and other officials.
Not only will members of the community be voting for local representatives, but also for propositions. An example of a proposition people have to vote for is if Texas should legalize cannabis for adults and automatically expunge criminal records for past low-level cannabis offenses.
You must be registered to vote.
To find out if you are registered, go to the Hidalgo County Elections Department website and click on the section that says Voter Lookup Tool. There, you would put your information, and it will let you know if you are registered.
There are many early voting polling locations in the Valley, but a convenient one for UTRGV students is the location on campus.
In Edinburg, the location for early voting is at the Student Academic Center and Student Union on the Brownsville campus.
According to VoteTexas, when voters have arrived at the voting site, you walk into the building, get in line and when it is your turn, provide your Texas ID or Drivers License.
From there, you will be escorted to a computer, receive directions and begin voting for your local representatives.
Early voting began on Feb 1 and will be ending tomorrow.
