Vaqueros round up Cowboys
It was a slow start with several pre-snap penalties, but the Vaqueros eventually picked up the pace and lassoed the McNeese Cowboys with a 27-10 win, remaining undefeated at home.
This was the Vaqueros’ first conference victory of the season. UTRGV is now 2-2 overall and 1-1 in the Southland Conference. McNesse is 1-3 overall and 0-2 conference.
UTRGV is coming off a losing streak after two defeats against UT San Antonio and Nicholls State University.

“Seeing what we just did after having a losing streak, I think it just shows what kind of team we are,” UTRGV quarterback Aidan Jakobsohn said after the game.
UTRGV tallied a total of 488 offensive yards, with 315 rushing and 173 passing.

The Vaqueros defense showed up big in the second half with four forced turnovers: three interceptions and one fumble recovery.
McNeese racked up a total of 279 offensive yards, 109 rushing and 170 passing.
The Vaqueros will go up against East Texas A&M at 6 p.m. next Saturday in Commerce.
